About Anne Bachewich &
Skypilot DOG Centre
Anne Bachewich has been training dogs since 1999. At that time, she started training her mixed breed rescue dog Shasta at a Brandon dog club, who was aggressive towards people, other dogs and fearful of everything. Two years later, Shasta went on to pass her novice obedience test at the club (since she was not purebred and this was the only place she could take the test), during which the judge had to touch her on the head and back. After much training and hard work, this success led Anne to realize her ability in training dogs. Over the next several years, Anne developed her exceptional dog handling ability, and began working as a groomer and dog sitter as well.
Anne is currently the only Certified Trick Dog Instructor in Manitoba.
Skypilot DOG Centre is located in the beautiful
historical resort village
of Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Canada

Anne and her friends Sarah and Brent Sobry introduced the sport of Canine Disc or Disc Dog to Manitoba in 2002 through the Brandon, MB club Westman Disc Dogs. Shasta was the first dog in Western Canada to receive her Retrieval Proficiency Title from the Canadian Disc Dog Association. There are now many people playing the sport, mostly in Winnipeg and some in Brandon.
Anne started Skypilot in 2003 with the Skypilot Disc Dog Performers which were simply volunteer performances for local events.
Skypilot DOG Centre was named for the ability of her dog McCoy to leap into the air to catch a disc. McCoy was the first dog in Western Canada to complete a Basic Disc Freestyle title from the Canadian Disc Dog Association

Left: McCoy and Anne achieved the second highest score in Single Disc at a 'Peg City Disc Dogz trial in Winnipeg in 2008.
