Caring For Your Dog at Skypilot DOG Centre

At Skypilot we only do what we call "specialty" pet sitting - providing an exceptional home-away from home for your pet. We are not a boarding kennel. Dogs  have a different experience than at other kennels. You may want to consider our services carefully before booking.

Overnight

Our daily rate is $25 per day or $20 per day if you have two dogs. Price is the same regardless of the size of dog because each dog gets special care. 

We cannot accept last minute requests for dog sitting.

Day Only

We can look after your dog while you are at work. Price for day sitting is $15 per day.

Dogs must be picked up by 6 pm.

*Bookings for long term sitting must be done at least 2 weeks ahead of your scheduled departure date*

*Please confirm your booking two to three days before you are scheduled to be here.

*All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations and we will need proof of vaccination.

We can accommodate dog-aggressive dog but all dogs must be friendly with humans. We cannot accept 

dogs that are aggressive towards humans.

We  look after one to four dogs (depending on the size) at a time whose owners want a superior experience for their dogs and want peace of mind at the same time.

=== We focus on QUALITY of time spent with the dogs in our care, not with quantity of dogs we can keep. 

=== Dogs are MENTALLY stimulated with dog appropriate activities - we do not have TVs in the dog's pens, or leave them alone for extended periods of time.

=== Dogs get one on one attention.

=== Appropriate exercise - this is looked at on an individual basis. All exercise, potty breaks, and any playtime is supervised. Dogs are never left on their own outside their sleeping areas.

===Dogs do not use a run to relieve themselves. They are let out in a yard or taken for a walk just like at home.

=== Socialization with other dogs - again evaluated on an individual basis.                                                                                           

=== Dogs are not kept in sleeping areas/runs all day.

=== Human socialization if appropriate.

===We do not charge extra to take your dog for walks or spend time   with them.                                      

              To sum up:

Dogs will receive proper mental stimulation, socialization, exercise, loving care and time to just be a dog.

Our Facility

Our summer dog building looks out over a scenic garden and wooded area. Our runs are 10 feet long, and three feet wide, covered and can be completely enclosed as needed. The runs are only used in the warmer seasons and are left open so that dogs can enjoy fresh country air. In the winter we use the dog room off the garage to house visiting dogs. All dogs are taken for walks, or are let into the dog pen to exercise and relieve themselves at least every two hours. 

Not all dogs will spend time in the dog building. 

Each dog is looked at on an individual basis.

* Dogs left in our care receive three or more 1/2 hour supervised playtimes or six, 15 minute walks with compatible dogs or individual exercise per day, but we will tailor the exercise program to your dog's individual needs.  Well mannered dogs may run off leash in our large exercise pens or training yard.

                                        On a walk

We do not encourage dogs to use the runs as a toilet. 

Instead, we take them out on a walk or in a fenced in yard every two hours to relieve themselves.    

If the weather is bad (too cold, rainy or awful!) we let the dogs out of their pens for the same amount of time inside as they would be outside. In the winter we have a heated indoor area 10' x 17' that the dogs are exercised in. Dogs are monitored continuously to make sure they are comfortable and happy.

What you will need to bring

You will need to supply food, blankets/bed and toys, collar and leash and treats. If you want to bring your dog's water and food bowls you may do so, or we can provide stainless steel water pails and food dishes.

In-House Dog Sitting

For $40 per day/night we can keep your dog in our home with us and our friendly house dogs. This option is good for dogs with behavior issues or health problems. Ask us for more details.

We can provide  your dog's sleeping quarters which is 4 ft x 4 ft with a top. 

Inside the pen is a bed if you wish which you must provide.

Your dog does not need to be overly friendly to other dogs but must tolerate them within several feet from inside a pen. This option is especially good for older dogs that have trouble walking or other medical problems.

Your dog will get time outside the crate to visit, walk and socialize but will sleep in the crate at night

Unfortunately, we cannot accept dogs for sitting that are unduly person-aggressive and who cannot be handled by me or my husband. We need to be able to take the dog(s) out to exercise them and spend time with them. This is important so that we can provide the best care for your dog. Remember, we are not a boarding kennel so we are not able to leave the dogs unattended if they have behavior issues. 

We may be able to handle dog-aggressive dogs.

We encourage, but do not require you to visit before making reservations, with your dog(s), to get to know us and our facility.
